Overdose Prevention and Response in BIPOC Communities

Updated: Mar 14, 2023

The National Council for Mental Wellbeing is excited to announce a new toolkit, Public Safety-led Community-oriented Overdose Prevention Efforts (PS-COPE), which introduces a revolutionary framework that public safety agency leaders and administrators can use to enhance overdose prevention and response in the Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) communities they serve.

The interactive toolkit provides tips, implementation tools and resources to help integrate the approach into existing overdose prevention and response efforts. The accompanying concept paper provides more details and describes how public safety agencies — and the communities they serve — will benefit from adopting this new approach.
